Oriano Galloni

November 18 - December 20, 2014 Boca Raton Gallery

BOCA RATON, Fla.— Rosenbaum Contemporary is presenting two opportunities to meet Italian artist Oriano Galloni in conjunction with his exhibition of sculptures, mosaics and mixed media works at the gallery. An artist reception and special preview of the works will be held at the gallery’s Miami location in the St. Regis Bal Harbour, 9703 Collins Avenue, Bal Harbour, Fla., on Nov. 18, from 7 to 10 p.m. An artist reception and the main exhibition opening will be held at the gallery’s Boca Raton location, 150 Yamato Road, in Boca Raton, Fla., on Nov. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. The public is welcome and can RSVP at rsvp@rosenbaumcontemporary.com or by calling 561-994-9180 x203.

Galloni studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy. His works have been exhibited in Italy, Germany, South Africa, England, Canada, France, China, Singapore, Switzerland, Monaco and the United States.

The Oriano Galloni exhibition will feature several series of Anima Silenziosa (Silent Soul) sculptures including Il Piccolini (The Little Ones). “Every piece in the series is unique,” Galloni said. “My idea is that each (little) sculpture take the name of the purchaser and become that purchaser’s protective energy.” The artist views the works in his Silent Soul series as spiritual trees, “receptors of human negativity, something like a filter, ready to restitute positive elements” similar to the photosynthesis process of plants. The white marble elements of the sculptures symbolize purity.

One highlight at the Boca Raton gallery will be The Song of Butterflies, a stunning 8 x 10-foot acrylic, oil and multimedia work on canvas which incorporates a small wooden, removable sculpture.

Another highlight of the exhibition is Profumo (Perfume), a sculpture made from a previously worked Italian stone, probably from the medieval period, which was found in a river. “This sculpture was inspired by a scent and a certain ancient vibration,” Galloni said. “It has a powerful energy.”

The Oriano Galloni exhibition will continue through December 20. Regular exhibition hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Boca Raton gallery and Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m. in the Miami gallery.
